Seattle Storm Vs Minnesota Lynx

I managed to get free tix for us to watch a WNBA match at Keyarena 🙂 heh.. it’s not that i’m a basketball fan BUT both of us walked by Keyarena for countless of times and we wondered how is it inside. So I seized the oportunity and managed to get tix for a game for the both of us.

It was a weekday and the match was at 7. BH met me directly at the Keyarena. We went for dinner first (yay!! no need to cook!) then went for the 2nd half of the match

The score when we came in:

Our seats were pretty good ( compared to the San Antonio seats we paid for)

Okok.. cannot compare men and women NBA games.. haha… I mean I seriously could feel the excitement since we are seating so close to them!

and it was really stormy .. i mean.. the weather became stormy… I forgot my PINK brolly and we ran home…

Guess what’s my fave part of the game?? haha.. when they catapult t-shirts. haha.. the deal would have been slicker if we went home with a FREE souvenir

Overall,it was fun.. at least something different to spice up the mid-week 🙂

Comfort food

I suddenly crave those moments in SG when you can smell Ya Kun from afar. Kaya toast is so readily available! I mean.. who would wanna go through all the trouble to make your own kaya ( haha..okok.. except  my mum – who would mk her own kaya anyway) I also rem the pandan aroma from the kitchen when my mum mks kaya and how she would spent a whole lot of time ‘watching’ fire and ‘stiring’ the mixture.. heh.. when the process is done.. I would rush to the kitchen, grab bread and start to eat… yummy! Love the hot Kaya on the bread… tastes sooooo good!

During the weekend, we finally managed to buy Pandan leaves. Yesterday, I attempted to make Kaya myself. (Note: We can buy Glory brand Kaya here, but it’s not as nice as the other brands in SG) I modified the recipe I found online with what my mum would have done and I’m v pleased with the outcome 🙂 As I was cooking, I was secretly licking my fingers – Kaya!! Yums!!  

This morning, we had this for breakfast.

(Coffee, Toasted bread with homemade kaya and margarine, Half boiled eggs)

Both of us were like ‘shioks!!!!’ haha.. my own version of Ya Kun!

I can forsee myself mking more Kaya in future 😀

Goody spin pins!

phew! BH drove me to a total of 4 walgreens to get this! It’s OOS almost everywhere!

Goody spin pins gives good hair!! 😀 easy to use.. no fuss… perfect on a bad hair day!

Just tie hair in a bun and slot in the 2 pins… it’s like magic.. it stays!!!! I jumped around and the pins didn’t drop!! Love it!

the sun’s back!

On Saturday, I decided that I needed to borrow the pretty longchamp scarf from Sabrina ( my bag!) haha.. so I wore it on my head as a hairband. hehe.. nice ?? 😀

The weather was really sunny .. so I could finally wear ‘summer’ clothes. haha.. wore my A&F one shoulder top together with my pretty Kate Spade earrings.

We went for brunch at Mayuri Indian Cuisine. It was buffet brunch.. haha..but buffet is very ‘bo hua’ for me.. i don’t eat much. BUT the food was superb! I mean.. i love Indian food! the spices .. the aroma.. mks my mouth waters! I had yummy chickpeas salad + Tandoori chicken + butter chicken + mutton curry + naan+ yellow spinach rice! oh well, the deco of the place was so  ‘indian’ too! The food is sooo authentic! What more can you ask for!

heh.. think we were the only chinese there… It’s great that SG is a multi racial society.. we get to enjoy and appreciate food from many different cultures 🙂

Contact lenses

Got these in the mail yesterday!

[STORY]

Prior to coming to the states, I bought several boxes of contact lenses from SG – I was using daily disposables. Of course, my supplies depleted since I’m over here for a period of time.

We went to the optician  last mth, to get new prescription so that I can buy the lenses here. ( Need to get prescription to mk specs or lenses here.. quite troublesome!) Nobody could mk the same kinda contact lenses as I was wearing in SG.

I was super upset and decided that I am so going to be ugly until BH decides on the date that we cld go back to SG 🙁 So, BH actually made the effort to find out more abt the lenses and even wanted to bring me to another optician for a 2nd opinion. Anyhow, he found out that only 1 type of lenses can fit me so he called the optician to mk the lenses – the monthly lenses

From that day on, BH was HORRIFIED that my eyes are of such high degree ( any higher , no lenses can fit me alr ) and he was like ” can u don’t read in the dark?”, ” what did i tell u about your eyes?” haha.. feels good to be cared for 🙂 and he sounds like my dad..

worst dinner ever!

last night marks the worst dinner I had cooked… EVER

Seriously, i wasn’t even cooking something new .. I did everything the same tried and tested way… BUT…….. it failed me 🙁

ok.. so i steamed fish… wash the fish.. did all the seasoning and all… put it in the pot to steam at HIGH heat for abt 10 mins.. took the fish out and it ought to be ready to eat to only realised that some parts are still uncooked… *sianz 1/2* need to steam somemore

BH was saying tt he’s hungry.. and i really wanted the fish to cook FAST.. so I took the plate and wanted to placed the fish back to steam… guess what happened???

THE BLOODY PLATE BROKE

There goes dinner.. no mood to eat liaoz…

1) need to clean the place

2) waste money – how to eat the fish .. what if there’s small glass fragments??

It was pure hell and I was so upset! FIRST time this happened after I have been cooking for nearly everyday!!!

and BH had to rub it in saying that i’m impatient, always wanna do things in a hurry… geez… it’s just the lousy plate’s fault

The consolation of the bad dinner

1) I was glad that the plate did not break on the floor!! It broke when it’s on the dinning table! *Heng! I guess it must be the hot plate meets the cold air – can’t take the fast temperature change so it broke? mk sense?*

2) Luckily, I cooked extra food for BH to bring for lunch so he ate  part of his lunch for dinner last night while i just ate the vege…

a bad dinner .. hope this won’t happen ever again!

Married = Mother’s Day?

My FIRST Mother’s Day carnation!!

nooo… don’t get me wrong!! Went grocery shopping ysterday ( Mother’s Day) and the cashier gave all ladies a stalk of carnation and ferro chocolates! nice! Can you imagine NTUC giving out chocolates and flowers on mother’s day? haha

Victoria’s Secrets

I don’t usually shop at VS but today I did! haha.. all because of that PINK brolly.. eh.. that brolly is worth US$68 can!! haha

Initially, I really wanted to buy this:

Tried it on and I like it!! BUT the PRICE in store and online is different! This monokini cost $58 in store and $43 online?? and the price cannot be adjusted – which sucks..

I gave up on the swimsuit.. fingers crossed that I can still get it some other time..

Decided that I should go for value. So I bought the Biofit bra US$55  ( probably the 2nd MOST expensive bra I ever bought… erm… okok.. my MOST expensive was Nubra for wedding) – don’t play play.. can wear 7 different ways ok! haha… and  I have $10 discount coupon for the bra + Free Panty!! WOW! okok.. I also have a coupon for Free lip gloss!

Because I needed like $60 to get the free brolly, so I bought 3 bottles of body lotion which cost $24

Things I bought: 1 Biofit bra + 3 bottles of body lotion

Things I got for free: Lip gloss ( $7) + Brolly ($68) + Panty ( $7.50)

Total damage: $75 with tax

heh… value for money right!!! 😀

I’m a happy girl… with my pink brolly of course! ( BH refuses to hold the brolly for me! hahaha)
