How to remove white residue from Hunter boots?

White residue is also know as ‘Bloom’

As the weather gets a bit cooler, I took out my rainboots which I adore dearly. I was shocked to see white residue on the boots!! At first, I thought it was dust/mould/dirt.. so I cleaned it using wet wipes and air dry the boots. However, the white marking came back again! I was devastated!

Did a search online and it says I could clean it off with a cloth and mild detergent. I tried it and…. the white markings still appear after boots were dried! πŸ™

Finally.. found the solution on PurseForum! Initially, I wanted to buy the Hunter sponge ($5) and spray ($12). I went to Neiman Marcus and they did not sell them πŸ™ No choice.. I got to use Armor All, which also works. I was hesitant to use Armor All as I felt that it might be too strong and it could damage the boots. I went to Target and there was only 1 container of Armor all Protectant wipes ($4.50) left – bought it and tried on our car’s wheels.. WORKS!

Spent the evening cleaning my boots… BH was teasing me – saying that I’m in NS and the sergeant just told me to clean my boots… heyhey! cleaning boots is quite therapeutic ok!

Dull with white residue
Shiny and new!
Armor All saves the day!

hahaha.. in the end… I not only cleaned my Hunter.. I also cleaned the rest of the shoes! I am just amazed by how good these wipes are!!! No wonder there’s only 1 container left! Phew… luckily, I didn’t buy the Hunter sponge and spray – Armor All works and it’s cheaper too!!!

The happiest day of my life…

is not when I fell in love.. or graduated… or got married… BUT it’s when I broke my bond. The feeling of joy and freedom is something which words cannot describe! πŸ™‚ I was and still am happy! The money that I needed to pay is a BIG amount but it’s lesser than what I had anticipated. The rumors or whatever additional interest is NON-EXISTENT!

If you have been following my blog or if you are my friend, you may be aware of my situation. As my no pay leave came to an end, I was very afraid and emotional. I didn’t want to leave my hubby.. either do I want to leave what I have here. BH had always been very supportive.. ever since Day 1 of my ‘suffering’ he already knew that he would want to ‘rescue’ me from my agony. I’m blessed.

After years of saving and mental torture, I made the decision to resign. The process was smooth. I went back to SG, got a cashier’s order and the bond was resolved. “Money solves all problem” my sister likes to say. How true!

My parents were quite upset and disappointed. They compared me to other people who are still in their jobs. You know, the difference between those people and me? They got their spouse with them. Yes, I admit that I am very needy and dependent – there’s NOT a tiny bit of being a ‘career woman’ in me. I’m just the kind of woman who likes to do housewifey stuff.Β  Is that wrong? Then again, I really don’t mind serving my bond if BH have the intention to go back. The problem is he doesn’t – at least not for now πŸ™

The good thing is.. my friends in the US commented that I look more radiant and happy when I returned this time round .. it’s amazing! how a bond can make such a difference in my life!

What’s the plan now? Don’t ask me about kids.. we are not prepared yet. We are staying in a 1-bedroom rental and having kids would mean we need a bigger space. Bigger space means more expensive rental. Expensive rental does not make sense because the amount of money for rental is enough for monthly mortgage of a big house! Sigh.. and we can’t get a house yet because of our HDB. BH and I are hoping to get a dog first.. As for kids, not now.. maybe 4 years later πŸ™‚

Now… let’s enjoy!! There’s no reason to be upset anymore! yay!!

Thank you God! Thank you BH for giving me every damn thing I wanted, regardless of size, price, length and whatever you can think of! The best 4th 6eptember ever!

In time

“one day… just one day…”

“give me a minute…”

“don’t waste my time..”

“time is money..”

Does all the above sound familiar? These phrases are things we say/hear quite frequently! well.. BH recommended that I watch the movie “In time” He was like.. ” It’s a great movie! I love it! You will love it too…” haha… it’s interesting that he thinks that I’ll be interested in the same things as him. Nevertheless I watched..

Besides the pretty actress and cute actor.. this movie also have a amazing plot (in my humble opinion) I like how the movie portray a extreme type of lifestyle which reflects the life we are leading now

The plot brings us to a world where the amount of time you have is indicated on your arm. Time stops when one reaches 25 years old – so you practically stop aging at 25! How cool!! This means you will be forever young!!! πŸ˜€ However, you need to ‘make time’ by working. Your salary is in terms of ‘time’ ( you could earn ‘years’, days’, ‘minutes’ each day) When you want to make a purchase or pay bills , you pay by time (you can give ’30mins’ as a gift!)

This concept can be confusingΒ  .. but it’s extremely thought provoking!Β  Can you imagine if you are living by the minute or if you only had 1 day to live? What would you do? If you can live to 100 years , how are you going to manage your time?

[Added on] Just recalled this part of the movie – There’s a scene which shows Justin eating alone in a posh restaurant. The waitress came and asked him ” You are not from here aren’t you? ” Justin was eating really fast as he was from the ghetto – he does not have ‘time’ to waste. This part reminds me of myself. I used to eat really fast because I don’t have the luxury of time to chew, appreciate and taste my food. In recent years, I realized that I eat really slow..Β  like I will be one of the last few who is still eating when everyone is done. I guess, my life here is much slower.. maybe I am one of those with at least ’10 years’ on my arm… haha

I know.. u probably don’t know what I am talking about… so watch the movie!

Happy hour at Earls Restaurant & Bar, Bellevue

It was a lazy Saturday afternoon. Bh and I decided to drop by Bellevue downtown and enjoy our first weekend back here. We feel really selfish but we enjoy having such relaxing weekends to ourselves and ourselves only

for drinks, I got myself a lychee geisha $9 while bh got a Collins cocktail $8. I love my lychee! It tasted like lychee martini w a twist!

For food, we have chicken tacos $7, which the server kindly split the food for us and the ahi tuna sliders $7! Nice πŸ™‚ we like the sliders alot and give it 4/5

The happy hour selection is really small but the ambience is cool and open. Its a nice place to people watch! Would come back again~~

Old bag….

New way to carry it!!! Say… Nice!!!!

I thought this bag can only be a crossbody or handcarry but my recent trip to SG (and to orchard rd) make me realize that I can carry it as a shoulder bag! Happy! πŸ˜€

Jetlag?

I can’t sleep! It’s abt 2.30am here πŸ™ have been like this for the past few night.. So irritating…

Eventful flight to SG

I had the most eventful flight ever back to SG.

I guess it’s just me.. I like to plan my trips way in advanced..I like to know how my finance situation would be after spending XX amount of money on tickets.. and also.. I like to have something to look forward to. Hence, I booked my flight via SQ website on Jan 20, 2012. [And it just slipped my mind that I need to check for any flight changes prior the trip!!]

My flight was supposed to be on the 31 July departing from SEA to LAX, 10am. When I arrived at SEA, I was told the flight had rescheduled to be earlier, 9am! I was shocked as I did not receive any email/phone call to notify me of the change. As a result, I missed the flight. The staff at SEA managed to reroute me to LAX via PDX. However, the flight was delayed at PDX, causing me to miss my SQ11 flight on that day! I was devastated! In the end, I got rebooked for the next day’s flight and redirected back to SEA. Just when I thought the worst was over, I realised that one of my check-in baggage was missing! (Fortunately, it was located at the LAX airport much later – it was a scary experience nevertheless)

Finally, I arrived at SIN one day later (3 Aug) It was due to the fact that SQ did not inform me of the 1st flight change that I experience many hiccups in this trip! I not only lost one precious day of reunion with my family and also missed celebrating my Dad’s birthday πŸ™

Yes, I did email SQ about my situation asking for compensation…However, I didn’t receive any. *sob*

Reminder to self: Not to take SQ for future travels to SG

Reasons:
1) Domestic flights are quite unpredictable – I might reach SFO/LAX late, hence missing my flight
2) At LAX, I will need to walk about 10mins to Terminal B to catch the international flight to SG ( Lucky thing: Check-in luggages will go all the way to SG)

Then again, I cannot ignore the fact that it’s nice to hear the stewards/stewardess speaking Singaporean English after a long while πŸ™‚
