tired but happy

this is how ‘passion’ for your work should feel like 🙂

I am a proud CEO of my ‘shop’  – Love it!! Sincerely, thank every single friend/customer for giving me their support, trust. Above all, thank you for recommending me to others. If you read this.. Thank you!!!

Yesterday, I saw with my own eyes that my email was forwarded from Company X > Company Y > Company Z! WOW!!! Thank you!! I’m so touched!

I also saw someone recommending me on a forum and someone ( who I don’t know) stood up for me when 1 member of the forum is talking nonsense and untrue things! Thank you!!!

You bet…I am tired as I only had shut-eye for 4 hours and had been continuously replying emails from my time 4am to 11.45am… I’m not blogging nonsense.. but I am seriously grateful and happy!! 😀

The element of surprise

This is a snapshot of my FB page

Haha.. BH proclaim to the ‘world’ that I’ll be having a surprise…. So… let me reveal… what’s the surprise……..

Cupcakes from Cupcake Royale.. erm.. i knda knew it.. that’s probably the only place he knows to get cupcakes.. or cakes that I like? I was kinda touched that he drove to the shop to get it – it wasn’t even on the way!

Then I was presented with the little blue box… and I was ‘AGAIN!!!!’ man… 1 shop fits ALL… all occasions…. it’s just a convenient place to get gifts lor… and he was like ” the sales lady already suggested what I can get for anniversary! ” haha… erm… ok..

anyway, I’m quite happy but thought that he shouldn’t have spent the $ then again… I wanna savour the moment… coz… 20 years down the road.. he might not even take the effort to shop for my present or even give me a pair of earrings…

or rather.. next year.. if my leave doesn’t go thru’ we might not even be spending my or our birthdays together..

Review: Nishino

Dinning out is a luxury for us ever since we began saving money in FULL force.. but we make it a point to try something really really good once a mth…

So we purposely dressed up. Here’s a pic  of  me in my new dress – erm.. do I look pregnant??? I am not!!

Anyway, this month is extra special.. haha.. it’s OUR birthday month! I seriosuly miss Japanese food…so BH and I decided to try Nishino. We were only able to make reservations for 8pm which is too late for us… so the next available timing was 5.15pm .. wah.. this place is popular man!

So we took the 5.15pm reservation and had a kinda early dinner ( wasn’t too early as I was hungry already? haha) Parking space was limited.. we parked along the road up a hill

Ambience was great! Shortly after we were seated, a group of Japanese ladies came.. they were wearing Kimonos! How interesting! 😀

Here’s what we ordered

There’s this ‘Dine around Seattle’ promo where you can choose 3 courses ( appetizers, entree, dessert) for $30! I tried the pronmo while BH ordered a grill squid.. man.. the squid was huge!!! and it’s delicious!!

My appetizer was crab cakes! I love crab cakes!! 😀 the crab meat was so juicy and tasted really good! My main course is a plate of sushi ( abt 11 rolls) and very filling. The wasabi is super powerful.. ate till my tears flowed down.. haha.. the sashimi were very fresh!! love it!! Dessert was abit disapting.. the Red Berry cake was soooooo sour!! and it’s supposed to be from Hiroki Maybe I shld have taken the Green tea tiramisu cake!

We also ordered a special seattle cocktail – not worth mentioning.. it tasted like medicine.. haha..

Service at Nishino was fantastic! BH requested for white rice and it was complimentary! I have complementary miso soup too! haha.. then again, BH gave more tips coz of the complimentary items

Total cost: US$80 w tips

We’ll probably go back there again 🙂

Last but not least……

BH forgot his age and thought he’s 30!! this shows how ridiculously forgetful he is!!!! geeeez…

Snowboarding Day 3 – GRAD DAY!

On the first day of Spring ( March 20) , BH and I went for our final beginner snowboard lesson ( oxymoron?) haha.. the weather was superb.. it was bright and sunny!

we were expecting a crowd at the ski area BUT it was so empty! haha… which is good.. coz we did at least 15 runs! and there was NO line at the chairlift!! nice!!

BH and I don’t even need to share a chairlift – see the pic of me on the lift? heh.. my mum wld freak if she sees it :X

YayI can do 1 complete run ( easy one la) w/o falling most of the time! and I can control my speed and direction! quite proud with my achievements!

BUT I still can’t come out of the chairlift w/o falling 🙁 BH can lor… soooooooo… the instructor was very nice.. hahaha… quite cute can….

 He ride with me and………

caught me when I fall!! heh… I almost made him “fall” on me! haha.. if only it is ‘for’ me lor…wahahaha… This instructor is super good.. He even helped me to tie my boot’s laces coz it came loose!!! :O I feel like a princess!!

I had alot of difficulty trying to master the toe side turn, so he held my hand and I kinda snowboarded with him 😀 cool!!!

Some interesting things we saw….

haha… that’s all! Looking forward to the next season!!!

Yang Chow Fried Rice

cooked this last night 🙂 v basic 1-dish meal, easy to prepare and pack for BH’s lunch

Here’s the ingredients*:

*Left out: soy sauce (to taste), oil ( to fry) , garlic ( to fry)

I don’t usually take pics of my ingredients BUT I can’t resist taking them last night.. haha.. they are soooooo colourful and I love colourful food!

P.S: Hope I’m not boring you with food I cook :X BH bought a domain last year and it’s kinda food related.. so I am thinking of moving all my food entries over when the site is up? heh.. so this blog  is like a temp. holding place for these entries. Pls bear with me!

Gmarket loots arrived!

In the end, I went ahead with 1 small order with my cash balance as I can’t decide what to get 🙁

Anyway, I am soooooooo glad that the items ( not many, only 2) arrived today. It’s super fast!

Date ordered: 11 March

Date received: 16 march

It’s about 4 working days only!!

Seriously, they need a smaller box sia… 1 big box containing 2 small things!

What’s inside?

Not very happy with the dress as i think i don’t look nice in it.. sobz… This is how the dress look on the model

oh well, luckily it’s kinda free? haha.. I bought it using my gift certificate! Thanks Gmarket for these wonderful gifts!

Last but not least, the bag!!

It’s beautiful! 🙂 See the 1st pic? The leather thingy is protruding out.. but I fixed it! heh

Looking forward for my next shopping spree… in June? sianz… still so long…….

Best Laksa in Seattle

I love laksa and we had this last night.. wah.. sooooooooo shuang!

To YM: For your drooling pleasure! 😀

Not that I’m BHB but I seriously haven’t found a place here that cooks better laksa ( Singapore style) than me!

What’s in my Laksa?

1) Hard boiled eggs ( I don’t usually put this BUT I was afraid that BH will not gain weight so I cook MORE just for him)

2) Laksa noodles ( known as Rice Vermicelli here, comes in packet. It’s asian spaghetti. haha.. taste like the real thing)

3) Tau pau

4) Bean sprouts

5) Shredded chicken

6) Prawns

>> Lacks Laksa leaves… we don’t have this here 🙁

Beef Rendang

A few dinners back, I cooked this spicy dish… haha.. Not in a very good mood so I have “the spicier the better” mentality. BH was like ” sooooooooo spicy!!!” I’m like ” Don’t eat throw la.. waste my effort” In the end, he ate it all up with lots of water.. wahaha… how mean can I get!

Anyway, it’s my 1st time cooking this dish ( with the help of Rendang sauce which my mum brought over last yr) .. it taste great!!! BUT the beef isn’t as tender as I expected .. sobz.. think I shld cook Rendang Chicken with the remaining sauce I have 🙂

2nd try: Japanese Cheesecake

Pls remember my cheesecake as on the pic above – delete all other pics you are gonna see later in this post. ok? haha..

So BH encouraged me to try the cheesecake again.. and we followed a different recipe. We used this recipe instead. This recipe is super easy to follow and it DOES NOT need flour or butter!! I was shocked but decided to try it out. If you are wondering whether corn starch = corn flour, I think it’s the same as I used corn starch. ( Can’t find corn flour here)

Everything went on smoothly this time round as we learnt from our previous experience.

I only have 1 mixing bowl for my mixer.. so we modified the recipe abit – like I sequence the beating of egg whites 1st then beat the cream cheese. ( Keeping my fingers crossed that it will not affect the end product)

Things to note, I did not add lemon juice as indicated in the recipe as we don’t like the ‘sour’ taste in our cake ( and i forgot to buy lemon!!!).

with the help of ………..

which was operated by ……..

once egg whites becomes foamy and soft peaks, we washed the bowl and began

I was very anxious to know the outcome. I knew it was gonna be a sucess when I saw the end result (1st pic) yay!! Happy!

Story: We wee rushing out so I switch off the oven and left the cake in the oven, thinking that It shld be alright in there… HOWEVER……..

yeah right… high five for we did a “failed” cheesecake again? 🙁 geeez… though it taste great!

Cheesecake is soooooooo sensitive.. Upon reflection and some research, I believe these are some of the reasons my cheesecake sank ( after rising):

1) Folding egg hwite technique was not good – we could have folded too much, or not gently enough. Some of the air escaped.

2) Not folding into the batter right after the egg whites reached soft peaks as I needed to mix the batter. ( some air could have escaped) I need TO GET ANOTHER BOWL FOR MY MIXER

3) The temperature in the oven is toooo high. Will reduce to 300F instead of 350F

4) Need to bake longer – top of my cake is not completely brown

5) I need to use boiling water for the water bake. I used hot water ( not boiling hot)

Will sure try this again! Wish us luck!
