Puyallap Fair 2012

Sept 22, 2012

It’s the first time we are going to the fair! This is like a state fair – a little of fun fair, games ( Think ‘Uncle Ringo’ type of games – the kind we get super excited because it’s like a HUGE pasar malam), farmers from varies counties/cities displaying their crops and barn animals

BH and I enjoyed ourselves- being away from our friends in US for some time.. it’s lovely to be surrounded by them, cracking silly jokes only asians will understand ๐Ÿ™‚

Did i mention? I am NOT a fan of soft toys.. either do I like Hello Kitty ( I may be Hello Kitty’s fan.. who knows!) BUT the toys in this fair is really good… It’s from ‘SANRIO’ !! yes, printed on the tag!!! I just got to bring My Melody and Hello Kitty home..

Admission fee: $9/pax ( bought discounted tickets from Safeway)

Parking: $8/car for the day (parked in residential backyard)

I am a Princess

Great clip from Disney ๐Ÿ™‚

http://youtu.be/qUGnu0gXtn4

I am a Princess.

I am brave sometimes. I am scared sometimes. Sometimes, I am brave even when I am scared.

I believe in loyalty and trust. I believe loyalty is built on trust.

I try to be kind. I try to be generous. I am kind even when others are not so generous.

I am a Princess.

I think standing up for myself is important. I think standing up for others is more important. But standing with others is most important.

I am a Princess.

I believe compassion makes me strong. Kindness is power. And family is the tightest bond of all.

I have heard I am beautiful. I know I am strong.

I am a Princess. Long may I reign.

In time

“one day… just one day…”

“give me a minute…”

“don’t waste my time..”

“time is money..”

Does all the above sound familiar? These phrases are things we say/hear quite frequently! well.. BH recommended that I watch the movie “In time” He was like.. ” It’s a great movie! I love it! You will love it too…” haha… it’s interesting that he thinks that I’ll be interested in the same things as him. Nevertheless I watched..

Besides the pretty actress and cute actor.. this movie also have a amazing plot (in my humble opinion) I like how the movie portray a extreme type of lifestyle which reflects the life we are leading now

The plot brings us to a world where the amount of time you have is indicated on your arm. Time stops when one reaches 25 years old – so you practically stop aging at 25! How cool!! This means you will be forever young!!! ๐Ÿ˜€ However, you need to ‘make time’ by working. Your salary is in terms of ‘time’ ( you could earn ‘years’, days’, ‘minutes’ each day) When you want to make a purchase or pay bills , you pay by time (you can give ’30mins’ as a gift!)

This concept can be confusingย  .. but it’s extremely thought provoking!ย  Can you imagine if you are living by the minute or if you only had 1 day to live? What would you do? If you can live to 100 years , how are you going to manage your time?

[Added on] Just recalled this part of the movie – There’s a scene which shows Justin eating alone in a posh restaurant. The waitress came and asked him ” You are not from here aren’t you? ” Justin was eating really fast as he was from the ghetto – he does not have ‘time’ to waste. This part reminds me of myself. I used to eat really fast because I don’t have the luxury of time to chew, appreciate and taste my food. In recent years, I realized that I eat really slow..ย  like I will be one of the last few who is still eating when everyone is done. I guess, my life here is much slower.. maybe I am one of those with at least ’10 years’ on my arm… haha

I know.. u probably don’t know what I am talking about… so watch the movie!

Whidbey Island excursion

    22 July

(3/10 of my personal blog challenge)

We went to Whidbey Island for the first time! Well, the main point of the trip was to bring the doggies to a off leash beach! How cool! The weather was not exactly sunny… in fact, it was windy, cold and rainy :/

Before the trip, we had breakfast at Pomegranate Bistro ( Oh yes, Dave is on clutches as he sprained his ankle)

The view was pretty nice.. but not as nice at the Bainbridge Island ferry.. haha.. the whole ferry ride only took 20mins! As we were driving a Honda fit, our price for car+passenger is only $7.75 ( small car category) – I think we were overcharged several times previously

We drove about 10mins to reach the beach.. it is a really nice place!

Alina kindly loan us her dog, Benji.. haha.. and it was the first time BH picked up dog poo…. heh.. tell me about it – BH had been talking about getting a dog for the longest time!!! On days like this.. we want a dog ๐Ÿ™‚

Whidbey island is quite small.. after the beach.. we hang out at Prima Bistro for Happy Hour. I personally feel that their happy hour menu is quite interesting.. there’s Pig ears , Bone marrow and snails!

It was a good trip….. until we had to board the ferry back… we started lining up at 5.15pm and only boarded the 6.30 ferry! Long wait~~

BH and I found out that there’s a no. of dog breeders in Whidbey island! haha..maybe the next time we come over, it will be for our puppy! ๐Ÿ˜€

ok.. check out my new aviator sunglasses! cool??!!

Movies@Marymoor

    July 18

(1/10 of my personal blog challenge)

Together with our friends, BH and I went for movies at Marymoor park The movie that night was Hugo, which we had not watched

It was an interesting experience for us as it was our first time watching movie in such a setting

The admission fee was $5 each which I thought was expensive as it’s an old movie and it is in a outdoor setting :/ we also needed to pay $1 for parking at the park. However, it was nice way to enjoy the warm summer nights outdoors ( it turned chilly quite quickly as it gets darker) I see people bringing sleeping bags, thick blankets and even pillows! hahaha it feels like a slumber party

The movie was shown at dusk ( ard 8-9pm) There were no subtitles on the screening but the audio was quite good.. the audience were mostly considerate – only occasional barks or babies crying

Here’s a pic of us ( u can see Justin and Sofie in the background.. heh)

I thought Hugo was quite a nice show. I like movies with a whimsical feel + how the movie makes dreams comes alive. It’s the kind of show which will mk you feel good! haha.. well.. the guys think it’s just “horse horse tiger tiger” blah…

This is probably my last movie at Marymoor for the year :/

Birthday analysis!

well.. it’s the first time i heard my birthday analysis over the radio! I am so surprised to know that one of my good traits is ๅคšๆ‰ๅคš่‰บ ( talented/gifted/versatile)

WOW! Really??? What talent do I have? I can’t seem to find something that I’m really good in :/

Pre-CNY party

BH and I organised a gathering at our apartment’s function room yesterday.

It was nice to have everyone over ๐Ÿ™‚ Everybody bought delicious food like Chicken rice, ngioh hiang, salted mustard duck soup, braised meat & egg… who can forget the Yu Sheng! ๐Ÿ˜€

I made pineapple tarts which didn’t turn out as well as i thought ๐Ÿ™ I mean.. it was my X time baking these tarts.. The bad part about the tarts were the pineapple paste (used the prepacked ones) As I was feeling depressed, discouraged and upset… I was glad that my friends think it tasted good – even packed the leftovers ( not many) home..

Just some pictures of the day…

We had a great time.. and hope everyone felt the same too ๐Ÿ™‚

Flightless bird

I think I just had the BEST Thanksgiving week ever ๐Ÿ™‚

We watched Breaking Dawn, which I had been waiting for A THOUSAND YEARS. hahaha… nah… just to get this clear. I like Twilight series not because of the actors/actresses BUT I like the story, esp Edward’s personality. Well, I enjoyed the movie BUT BH obviously didn’t. hahaha… I love the soundtrack too… found so many good songs for wedding… OMG!! So romantic! I wanna get married again!! I rem how BH and I can’t think of any good songs during 6eptember .. now my whole head is filled with ideas… sigh…. I only blame myself for NOTย putting my wedding as priority then. Then again, it’s not the wedding day that counts.. it’s what’s after ๐Ÿ™‚

BH alsoย had his 1 week break so we made plans for a small road trip. This time, we have Justin and Alina to join us. It was fun to travel together. haha… like double dating.. heh… The last time we travelled with another couple was like at least 8 years ago ( with Ben and Adeline) well.. glad we had ‘fresh meat’ to join us! The bad part of he trip was it was raining heavily the whole time – The good AWESOME and AMAZING company made up for it! ๐Ÿ˜€ Thank you!

We went to Kennedy School for dinner on 1st night. It’s something like Old School in Singapore ( which I haven’t gone) It was quite an experience for us.. and kinda creepy too! hehe

The next day, we went to Tilamook cheese factory and visited the Haystack on Cannon Beach

It was a nerve-wrecking trip along the Oregon coast as WE WERE RUNNING OUT OF PETROL. There’s no petrol kiosk nearby!!! OMG… the needle on the petrol guage was below the empty line and the ‘warning lights’ were on ( Petrol Kisok was 10 miles away) !!! Just as the GPS shuts down…. we found the petrol kiosk . Phew!!! Reminder: Top-up petrol b4 driving along the coast esp on a rainy day!

Just as we thought that was gonna be the ‘highlight’ of the trip…. our GPS directed us up a ferry as we made our way back to Portland!

It was quite an adventure as none of us had seen such a small ferry over a lake! haha… it was like a floating platform which could take about 4-6 cars! How interesting!

We had a fruitful trip , not much pictures as it was raining the whole time!!! :/
We would love to go for another trip together soon!!!

—————
The next day was Thanksgiving Party at Dave and Jo’s home. haha.. it was nice to meet everyone again… we played Mafia, which is a super fun party game and I am such a bad mafia.. always get caught :/

I had a great week that it was so weird to have BH and I having dinner at home.. haha.. too quiet… It had been too noisy the past week.. hehe

I just wanna be ok today

I figured out that I better blog an entry here to update what’s happening so far.

Social

WE have been very social this year that we missed having time with ourselves.. haha.. no.. don’t get me wrong.. we or rather Iย like to be with people… just that BH feels that he would like to spend more time doing his own things like work?

Oh well.. BH and I went for 2 Halloween parties this year..it was an amazing experience.. considering that it’s like the FIRST Halloween that we participated! We were very low cost on our costumes. I was a Red Indian while BH was a Pirate. erm… we were very underdressed.

First Party: Bh’s company party – Wah… it’s always good to go to a generous party. The music… the drinks… the food… Fantastic! Together with valet parking.. Nothing compared to my ‘stingy’ company

Second party: Halloween at Denny+Sam’s place. It was the BEST party so far!!! Enjoyed ourselves very much. The party only ended at 4am!!! OMG!

The survivors at 4am!

Health

BH had been quite busy and stressed out with work lately… so I leave him alone most of the time….

On the other hand, I realised that I may have another infection (similar to last time) on my leg ๐Ÿ™ I made an apptment with the doc and will be seeing her on friday. I have no idea what’s wrong with me

Travel

We plan to drive to Portland for a short getaway during BH’s Thanksgiving break. Really looking forward to it.. Looking forward to enjoying each other’s company ๐Ÿ™‚

Kitchen

I am thrilled with myself when I looked back and realised that I cooked so much delicious food ๐Ÿ™‚ Sorry, no pictures.. to name a few… I made Fried carrot cake (again), Chicken rice and more! Just yesterday, I made Chocolate Chiffon Cake ( unplanned baking session with myself) and I was very happy with how it turnedย out!

ahh… I love my life now… I hope what I’m experiencing now is not the LAST of everything ๐Ÿ™

Freeze time

I have been very occupied that’s y I haven’t been blogging ๐Ÿ™‚ Occupied in a good way. I was glad that the horrible month of September went by and welcomed October with sinful cupcakes!

Above all, I am very happy that Sam intro Jo to me , whom I learnt alot of baking and cooking techniques/skills from! Well, so we have been cooking, baking, experimenting in the kitchen together for the past weeks. Cooking and sharing food is so fun! I admire her spontaneous attitude, how she is open to mistakes and her determination to perfect a dish. I pity Jo because I don’t think she learn anything from me.. I am just so unadventurous and cautious. haha… anyhow.. the point is I learnt alot from her! I am grateful for that!

Just yesterday, I causally mentioned that I felt like trying out ‘Cai Tao Kuay’ (Fried Radish cake) and Jo was like ‘Let’s do it today! I go buy the ingredients and head to your house now!’ I was delighted with her enthusiasm! heh… In the end, we made more than Fried Radish Cake, we also made Yong Tau Foo and ngioh Hiang. We had a fabulous time ( like always) .. Sam was awefully missed ( I think she’s experimenting with her pretty Kitchenaid.. haha)

A picture to rem one of the great meals we had together

I cherish these moments and I wish it will NEVER end!

And just to add.. we also play boardgames together! Oh man… it’s so addictive and we are meeting up for more tonight! haha..

I rem how I always wished that BH and I will get to know new friends together.. and we finally did… in a foreign land. I love my life now..

Freeze time… ok?
