not a good sign

ok.. so it’s already one week and the pain for my wisdom tooth extraction just got worst. In the past few days, the only way to stop the pain is popping painkillers BUT last night, I popped like 2 painkillers and still hurts like siao 🙁 the checkup was supposed to be today BUT BH can’t bring me today.. so I got to tahan for 1 more night to see the dentist tml.. seriously, I can’t wait! I wanna find out what’s the problem with me!

Anyhow, I googled my pain online and have a sick feeling that I might be suffering from another infection, what they call ‘Dry Socket’ OMG.. I seriously have no idea what is going on with me.. I am so infection-prone ever since I came back from SG!

Tml I will be heading to the oral surgeon for check up.. thursday, I will be heading to the doctor for another check-up wrt to MRSA

I feel perfectly fine and normal… BUT I have no idea why I have so much problems internally

and this month… sets to record that I am going to the dentist/doctor every week…

Just kill me – I think my end is near

Losing wisdom…

Hurts… grr..

So i was blogging about how painless the wisdom tooth surgery was… NOW…. the healing process actually hurts. Day 1 was good… Day 2 still bearable.. Day 3 was ‘OucH!!!’The part where the tooth was felt sore and sensitive.. eeks… Think I ‘hao lian’ too soon already.. haha..

Last night,, it hurts so badly that I was tearing to slp… until I decided to take the super power painkiller :/ Still, I didn’t sleep well… and then the alarm rang.. Just when I thought I will just roll around in bed and let BH settle hs own breakfast, I decided tt i shld get up and do it for him like I usually do.. nah.. I’m not implying or booasting that I’m a good wife… I do this because it mks me feel happy that BH is going to work with a full stomach and the thought of being able to see him out of the door is just so precious – I don’t know how much time we have left together… ironically, this was something which I missed doing when we were apart.

When BH is home from work, it’s quite surprising that we or rather I still have so much to talk to him about – though I spent the day nursing my pain at home. Our conversation will go like “ehh… I read Wizard of Oz today” > “How is it?” > “It’s very interesting…. but I felt asleep” > “haha.. you fell asleep and it’s interesting…” > “yes… it’s interesting.. you shld read it!” > “so.. you no (know) sleepy?” ….

If you don’t get what I’m typing, it’s ok.. haha..

sometimes.. it’s just these little things that keeps the r/s alive.. can’t imagine my life w/o these IF I were to go back 🙁 How can you anyone get enough of love?

NYC – Day 6 (Last day)

8 September

Contary to the day before, it was extremely sunny… and I forgot to bring my sunglasses 🙁

We managed to do some last minute sightseeing at the Fashion District ( it was fashion week!!) , Wall street. And of course, Ground 0 – coincidentally it’s near the 10 years anniversary of 911, there were many media pple around. I’m not sure if it’s me or the atmosphere at Ground 0 was really solemn and everyone just have an air of sadness around them 🙁 It was depressing. Even though 10 years had passed, memories were still very fresh

New York stock exchange –

<

I thought that the best part of our trip was Brooklyn Bridge. The view is spectacular. We walked the whole length of the bridge ( took about 1 hr) then took the train to Empire State Building

I seriously think that the Empire state building (ESB) is overrated. I mean.. IF I were to choose 1 observation deck ( Top of the rock or ESB), I will choose Top of the Rock! To get up to ESB, we lined up for about 1 hr!!! It was very crowded and we needed to go thru’ security checks. When we finally got on the observation deck, it was flooded! I can’t even find a spot to stand! In the end, we lined up for 1 hr but observed the view for a mere 10-15mins? Horrible experience!

The best part about ESB is Chipotle which was right next to it… I simply love the naked burrito! haha… yummy!! I was telling BH that I could eat that everyday!! 😀

After which we headed to the airport for our flight back to Seattle. We were extremely happy to be back… Seattle just feels right .. for us 🙂 The journey back was only 4.5 hrs , even the pilot said that it was ‘record breaking’ .. haha.. amazing!

Overall, I enjoyed this trip because NYC is really a nice place , take away the crowds, the litter and the rude pple. haha…Bh did a very good job in navigating this time – I’m happy with his tour. heh… he booked tix way in advanced and planned the route. I think we didn’t get lost ( though the subways are kinda confusing at times) I think I’m done with NYC for now… I’m really looking forward for our next major trip next yr… which we booked already!!! 😀

NYC – Day 5 ☂

7 September

Actually this NYC trip is really tiring.. either that or we are getting old. Haha.. By the 5th day, we r exhausted from my early mornings and late nights 🙁 Anyhow, we still make it a point to wake up EARLY so that we can be on Good Morning America (GMA) – morning show which we watch everyday… haha… I think I’m very lucky, because the KARDASHIANS were on the show and I get to see them live!!! 😀 I was so excited!!!

Haha… we came back home and watched ourselves on GMA here It was so funny to see ourselves on TV, esp me waving like a maniac! haha… luckily none of my friends could see me.. hehe.. Fun experience!

Next, we headed to Flushing Meadows for US OPEN

Rem I told you there’s weird pple on the subway? haha… This is one of the funny incidents. So there was this asian lady on the train. She was talking really loudly on the phone. She kept repeating ‘No’ for at least 30 times then she said ‘No, I’m no sleepy’ for another X no. of times. OMG! I don’t know why but it’s so funny… so I started to giggle… then the pple surrounding me start giggling , one lady even laughed out loud. BH quickly got me to cover myself with my hoodie – he was afraid tt I will kenna bash. haha.. anyhow.. i need to demo to you then u will know that it’s funny.. haha… now thinking of it.. it still mks me laugh… wahahaha… “I no sleepy!!!!”

Luckily we reached the stadium fast enough… else I think it’ll die from controlling my laugher. haha…

Watched Nadal vs Muller for 17 mins then match was suspended due to the rain!!! We hang around the area until evening then left when the organisers declared that the match for the day will be cancelled. Bh was very disapted. The more heartpain thing was we paid $100+ for the tix!

As we were feeling quite sore that we wasted time and money … BH received an email that the amt we paid for the US OPEN TICKETS will be REFUNDED!!! yayness!! In fact, it had been refunded already 🙂 Lucky us! Great organisers!

Our last dinner at NYC was at Serendipity3 – which I get to know from 1 of the episode of ‘Keeping up with the Kardashians’ The food was so-so. The must try is FROZEN HOT CHOCOLATE – very poisonous but super nice! The server is not too friendly… maybe it’s just new yorkers… they are not very friendly? hmmm..no offence BUT I have a feeling that the worst americans resides in NYC!

Just as we were enjoying dinner, the doctor’s office called and informed me about the lab results. Oh well.. I got worried and I didn’t feel too happy after that 🙁 Now I can only pray that things will get better when I see Dr Le next week.

NYC – Day 4 ☂

6eptember

Times flies! It’s our 3rd wedding anniversary! Though we know each other for a long time… we are still learning new things about each other every day! haha.. So glad to spend this day overseas with BH – I wonder how would it be like next yr… I’m just very happy that we are together now.. and I hope that we will NEVER get tired of each other 🙂

It was a rainy day.. sianz.. see the umbrella on the tittle of this post? haha.. Got this cute symbol from my cousin, Demi on Facebook. the point is…it’s very sianz to travel in the rain..so most of the time I’m carrying an umbrella in the pictures.. luckily, most of our activities planned were indoors ( we gave Central Park a miss)

We headed to American Museum of Natural History

It was crowded with lots of kids! Anyway, I was super excited to see the dinosaurs!

and you can have the hands-on experience to look for dino bones! 😀 It’s fun!

Dino bones overload… I’m starting to wonder if they are even real??!!!

This museum is HUGE! It’s like a cultural centre + Zoo + Aquarium. haha… they are many figurines of animals/insects which looks very real! :O I think kids in NY nv really need to go to the zoo.. hehe… I love the whale, it’s HUGE!!!

<

Headed to the New York Public Library next. It’s really nice.. with a ‘Harry Potter’ feel

Noticed my change in attire? I was underdressed for the cold, wet weather.. so I bought a pair of leggings and a sweater from H&M to change into. I was tempted to buy a pair of Hunter Rainboots too.. haha.. I see many NYers wearing them.. so cool!

Next stop….

Then it was finally time for WICKED! BH and I were looking forward to this musical ever since we heard ‘Defying gravity’ on Glee

We enjoyed the musical very much… I thought that it was very touching and I teared 🙁 I think I also saw BH tearing at the corner of my eyes.. heh… You need to watch it if u go to Broadway 😀

Ended the night with dinner at Totto Ramen Waited 45mins for our seats in the cold and wet weather. I was quite relieved to have a hot bowl of delicious ramen after a long wait. We felt that the ramen broth is delicious BUT the amt we paid for was ex, considering that there’s only 2 pcs of meat? It was authentic ramen nevertheless, better than what we can get here in Seattle 🙂

NYC – Day 3

September 5

Woke up super early hoping to get into a morning show Live with Regis and Kelly We watched R&R every morning and thought that it will be fun to see them live. Travelled to the studio to only realised that they don’t do any filming on Labour Day (US holiday) Oh well… we were disappointed so we snapped some pictures of the surroundings ( They have a nice wall deco at this subway station)

Then we headed to somewhere nice for breakfast – Penelope Love the website – it has a classic rustic feel just like the resturant itself.

Food was reasonably priced considering that the serving was HUGE ( to me) and the set included Mimosa, which is a Champagne cocktail. haha… so it’s the first time I have Champagne for breakfast… what a luxury!

Then we cannot control ourselves and went… SHOPPING?!!

Finally visited the Kardashian’s store DASH. I didn’t see of them in the store.. neither did I buy anything.. it’s just too expensive.. :X

We went up to Top Of the Rock for the view…It was a pretty sight.. we were supposed to see sunset BUT it was too cloudy? A sign of rainy days ahead…

Met up with Keying and Zim for dinner at Inakaya for dinner. We finally get to try the NY resturant week menu… It was a great experience as they made mochi on the spot.. very authentic Japanese resturant. Too bad.. our camera is out of batt.. no pictures 🙁

NYC – Day 2

September 4

Bright and sunny day at NYC – wah.. so hot! Ok, here’s the part about NYC. The moment you step outside , you can smell a bad stench – the kind that will mk you vomit. The roads are also badly littered. It’s not a nice sight at all… and very different from WA state ( which is not exactly v clean , at least not as dirty)

Anyhow, Times Sq in the morning is very quiet. The night before, we noticed a lot of tourist taking pics with the policeman. Haha.. we found it so weird and funny that a policeman is a photo icon! haha.. oh well.. we took picture with the police station sign, just as bad right :X hehehe.

The real subway…. OMG! It’s seriously HOT… there no aircon and the HOT air is trapped underground… booo…. and the stench and weird pple… erm… worst than SG.. BUT it’s the fastest and most convenient way to get around

Took the train to South Ferry to see Statue of liberty. PLEASE GO EARLY! we reached at 8.45am and it was crowded already. Mind you, we need to go thru’ security checks, so it will take up sometime

Ok.. it’s kinda hard to have a good view on the cruise. It is just filled with people.. and everyone were like Meerkats – trying to take a picture. I kinda gave up… and played Wordament instead.

At Liberty Island, it was beautiful 🙂 I was really glad that I saw Statue of Liberty in real life after so long!!

Then I was busy completing the activity book so that I could earn a priceless and FREE souvenir at Liberty island. Ever since I first started at Mt Rainier, I have been collecting them at every National Park I go

The ranger is really nice to let me wear his hat and gave me a little ceromony 😀

After which we left Liberty Island (skipped Ellis Island) and went to Chinatown and Little Italy.. you know.. doing the usual touristy stuff..

The highlight of the night was meeting Keying and Zim for dinner then went to their super cool home and played with Sam 🙂 haha… I think I missed Bambi so much that I called Sam Bambi several times.. hehehe… paiseh..

We so need a dog man… haha..

NYC – Day 1

One thing that BH and I love is travelling. haha.. whether we like travelling with each other or not… that’s another story. Haha… ever since I am on NPL, we or rather I make it a point to plan our vacations early so that we can take advantage of the early bird deals. For our NYC trip, AA (American Airlines) sent BH a voucher for BOGO air tix to any of the 50 states in US. There are many places we could go… BUT we thought that since we have this voucher, going to NYC mks the most sense (more value for money). We booked the tix and the fare came up to be about US$350 RT per person , w/o any transit in between.

3 September

We set off *NOT TOO EARLY* We realised that we kinda calculated the time wrongly… so we rushed to the airport. More haste, less speed. We took the wrong freeway and needed to detour. Trying to keep calm… we managed to reached the airport just in time. phew… we even had time to buy breakfast, just that no time to eat.

Flight to JFK took about 5hrs… From the plane, we can already see that NYC is filled with a whole lot of skyscrappers… very urbanised.. kinda like SG?

Reached the airport and took the train to our hotel. It was easy to find and relatively near the subway. We stayed at Four Points Sherton Midtown Times Square BH managed to get us 5 nights for FREE by redeeming his points. The hotel was very clean and nice. Just that the toilet design wasn’t that good – I feel that their shower area needed a curb to stop water from flowing out when showering. Shan’t complain much since it’s free. haha…

Without much ado, we put down our barang and headed out for dinner at Taboon Initially, BH planned for seafood dinner BUT due to my infection, I got to stay off seafood for a while. Sob… well.. I like Mediterranean food too 🙂 It was a hearty dinner (NOT the best) BUT we were disapted that they don’t have the New York Resturant Week menu on a Saturday

After dinner, we head to Times Square. OMG! It’s very crowded and touristy

Then we ended our day.. haha.. too tired from the early morning’s flight and trying to get used to the time difference

I know.. the first day isn’t too exciting… haha.. it will get better.. really 😀

Half of my wisdom is gone.

Alot of things had happened in the late august/early september. Geez… I am not sure where to start BUT i’ll just blog about the nasty things first.

*Caution: READ with an open and sympathic heart*

Story 1:

I consider myself a healthy person. I mean.. I had been taking care of myself (+ BH) to make sure that our clothes are clean, food is nutritious.. However, right after my period last month, I noticed a lump at my pubic area. I mean.. I was horrified. BH is the ONLY man I get intimate with so I’m not promiscuous in anyway. I got BH to take a peek (can’t see clearly myself) – he brushed it off as “It’s probably just a pimple.. put pimple cream there lor.. hahaha” WTF, he avoided being close to me as though I was a plague after that… and we sleep with a bloster (aka barrier) in between us.. until now 🙁 I can totally understand why

The ‘pimple’ got worst as the days went by. It looked like a ulcer and it got bigger and looks disgusting!!! I was just so embarassed this time round. I searched online and some forums were saying ‘burst and squeeze the pus out ‘ and ‘use sharp object to burst…’ OMG! You know, the skin there is thin and delicate. It hurts so badly each time I touch it. Furthermore, it starts to hurt very badly that I can’t even walk properly. And still, I didn’t dare to go to a doctor because I was too embarassed to show anyone my pubic area. Gosh..Knowing that our NYC trip is just a few days away, I took out all my courage and ‘poke’ the lump with a safety pin. It hurts so badly and it didn’t help!!! Things were just going downhill after I TRIED to be MY OWN doctor.

I decided that I needed to go to a REAL doctor. The thing in US is… going to the doctor is not as easy as ‘Go downstairs and Q up’ You need to search in the directory for the doctor you want to see for the specific problem, then mk an apptment. After a long search for FEMALE doctors online, I found out that I needed to go to Primary Care Unit to be treated. Found a doctor near us but was turned down by BH. In the end, BH recalled that his pregnant collegue went to Swedish Medical ( supposed to be the better one among all the hospital/clinics) Made an apptment with Dr Le and was feeling v anxious about seeing her about my situation.

If you are like my mum.. and wondered if I shave down there… haha.. usually, I do. However, this time round, the pain was killing me and I can’t care much, so I merely just took a scissors and trim the hair there. Geez… I was hoping that Dr Le don’t think that I’m such a unkempt girl.

On Friday morning (2 sept) , it marks the FIRST time anyone ( other than BH or my parents) seen me down there. OMG.. I am not sure if it’s better to die of pain or embarrassment. Obviously, I choose the later and I’m glad I did.

We reached the hospital early in the morning, true to its name, the interior and exterior is very swedish. In fact, this branch looks extremely new and clean ( erm.. probably v expensive too… luckily insurance cover) haha… we were greeted by a very friendly guy who showed us around and bought me to Dr Le’s office. I filled out some forms and waited anxiously..

A MALE assistant (v cute) led me into the room and started to take my ht and weight, asking me more qns about the lump down there. I was soooooooo embarassed that I think I wish I could be a chameleon and camoflauge into the chair. BTW, Bh went into the room with me. I don’t want him to know/see the ‘lump’ fearing that he will find me even more unattractive. Anyhow, I felt so uncomfortable and asked the male assistant directly “You are not looking at me down there right?” phew.. he explained that Dr Le is coming in later.

He gave me a gown to get changed in ( my first time by the way) then I waited anxiously for the doctor to come. She was very young but professional. It was very awkward to have someone look at you there. haha.. but i rather be healed you know. As expected, it was an infection BUT she have no idea what infection that was. She needed to get a sample to send it for testing. Here’s the scary part, she used a tool to ‘scrape’ that part… IT HURTS TO BADLY!!! I was practically holding onto her arm and getting her to be gentle. It was only like 15 secs and it felt like an eternity.

As a long weekend was around the corner and we will be heading to NYC, Dr Le suggested that I should let her ‘burst’ the lump. This means that she will need to inject to the ‘eye of the storm’ and drain the abscess. I kind of know she will suggest that BUT that’s the best way to go. I reluctantly agreed.

I was bought to another room where the ‘torture’ begins. This time BH sat outside and wait, I didn’t want to disgust him with my issue. Because I was uncomfy with her male assistant looking at me, she respect my decison and did the procedure herself. For that, I greatly appreciate! Anyway, she injected me at that ‘spot’ to numb that area, which didn’t help. So she used another needle to inject more into the spot. She definitely injected in that area more than once! OMG!!! It hurts really badly… I was trying very hard not to scream – I was ‘ouching’ all the way. Finally, it was numb. She used another needle to drain the pus and then a sugerical ‘penknife’ to cut an incision to extract the remaining pus. The whole procedure took like 45mins and ended with alot of blood (like a murder scene). At the end, she was pretty sure nothing was there anymore. It was sore, raw and had a hole. yucks! She put plaster on it and taught me how to care for my wound.

It was definitely the MOST painful trip to the doctor ever!

At the end of the consultation, I was sharing with her how upset I was because it’s BH and my wedding anniversay and this had to happen. She also told me that her husband and her celebrated 3yrs wedding anniversary a few days ago! haha… i think she’s of the same age as me. BH and I had been toying with the thought of BCP, so I causally told her that we might see her again (It’s her area of expertise!)

After seeing Dr Le, we were both super glad that at least we have a doctor to see if anything goes wrong. The best part, we didn’t pay a single cent.

In the US, you need to go to a pharmacy for medications. You don’t get the medicine at the doctor’s office itself. We head to the nearest Pharmacy Target for meds. She gave me 2 super strong antibotics and 1 cream. The antibotics made me feeling like vomiting after consumption. I was like crap for the 1st day. After which, I was very happy that things start to look up. The wound seemed to had healed, more pus came out….BUT the lump is still there 🙁

BH and I left for NYC and I felt totally fine.. until the last night at NYC. we were happily enjoying our meal at Serendipity3 when the nurse called me. She informed me that the lab results are out and the Doctor wished to see me in the coming week (which I am going for Wisdom Tooth extraction). In the end, I am scheduled for next week Damn sianz… The infection I have is called MRSA which I have no idea how I got it 🙁 Really hope things will be alright then.

To people who are reading this, PLEASE see a doctor if you notice anything weird on your body – IF I went to the doctor early, I won’t have to go thru’ so much pain. Health is indeed wealth!

—————–

Story 2:

After many years of consideration, though my Wisdom Tooth is not bothering me. I have decided to go extraction just because IT IS CHEAPER IN THE US because of insurance coverage.

So I extracted 2 tooth today. I was afraid that it will hurt like siao.. but it’s bearable. Just that I can’t eat? Bright and early, BH bought me to the clinic, I was petrified BUT I know that since I got past the injection incident above i will survive this.

The thing about wisdom tooth extraction here is I can choose to be completely sedated. haha.. i went for that of course.. it’s $500 more BUT insurance pay. This marks the first time I inhaled Laughing gas ( it didn’t mk me laugh) , had wires on my body and connected to a drip. OMG!! My oral surgeon ( different from dentist) was a cool russian(i think) lady, Dr Leonard She came in checked that everything is ok, pulled out the X-ray then injected me with the general anesthesia and I drifted to sleep pretty quickly

Then….. I don’t know what happened after that… hahaha…

When i woke up, the nurse told me I did well! haha.. I asked her where’s the tooth, she said that they disposed it already. The area was very clean, no blood, no tools. Shortly after, BH was in the room with me. She explained to us what’s in the ‘care pack’ – a ice bag, gauze, a post card of suggestions to what to eat. Next, she held my hand and led me to the car. Bh drove us to the pharmacy to collect meds

Total damage: US$263 (Insurance covered $1300)

I was very numb in my mouth, can’t feel any pain but I still can talk cock . haha…We collected the painkillers then BH bought me a milkshake and I went home to rest. Yes, I did shed alot of blood BUT not as much as the 1st incident. Yes, it hurts, not as bad as the first incident.

The point is I Survived! Thank God! I hope everything looks up from here!

The thing about Bing

I thought that I must write this down before I become senile and forgot all these little things… haha.. nothing mushy.. or nothing to boast about.. it’s just like how sometimes I’ll just jokingly say how bad or screwed up BH is but he’s actually pretty good to me. I actually wanted to blog about this for a very long time BUT I just didn’t. These small things may seem nothing to you BUT to me, it means alot.

I consider myself very blessed that BH is willing to spend money on me.

1) Rem how I was admiring Chanel bags? haha.. in my humble opinion, anybody will be turned off by the price BUT BH? He actually did his research, contacted a no. of SA and surprised me with a WOC (Wallet on Chain) – It’s an early Wedding anniversary gift. Wow! I was very happy and impressed! Though I still think that the 2nd proposal ring was the BEST gift ever! Nothing could top that!

2) Then my customer bought a pair of Ferrogamo shoes. BH was the one who saw the real thing ( I was in SG) He was like ” It’s very nice la… you will love it! ” Opps… he planted the thought in my head – now I’m itching for a pair of Ferrogamo shoes. Sigh.. BH pounced at every chance to show me the Ferrogamo shoes and at Korea airport, I tried on a pair and loved it – we nearly bought it! I know.. even if it’s US$400 if I want it, he will get it for me. I am so touched just thinking of it 🙂 In the end, he got me $100 Bloomingdales card, so that we cld shop for Ferrogamo in NY! haha…

3) Sometime back, we went out for dinner with his collegues. I was telling BH how nice his collegue’s gf’s coat is. Then BH bought me to Macys and started to frantically find a similar looking one for me. haha… erm… not sucessful.. The US sizes just don’t quite fit me

and of course, they are many more small things…

Just that why are all these small things so hard to do when you are on a LDR? I mean.. such actions or small gestures just disappear when I was back in SG? If only he can still be this nice to me when we are really really apart then maybe it won’t be that difficult
