Escape to Vancouver, BC

The weather in Redmond or rather WA had been quite weird. It cld rain, hail, snow and become sunny all in 1 day. Just last week, I was trapped in a hail! Boo… no fun… it hurts so badly that I thought my whole face was bleeding… wah… the wind.. so so chilly & strong…I thought i cld b blown me away… scary weather…

anyhow.. as part of Alvin’s last 2nd week over here, we made a road trip to Vancouver. It’s about 2.5 hrs drive. The weather that weekend was super!

At Vancouver, we met up with 2 more Singaporeans for dim sum.. I think that’s the BIGGEST group of Singaporeans we have ever been with by date!

Had sashimi at Sumurai Sushi Sashimi were generously HUGE, fresh and cheap! I felt like a polar bear after the meal.. haha

After a ‘polar bear’ dinner, we headed home…. and I spotted this….

That’s all… I’m kinda nursing a cold now… my nose feels funny… had some Dayquil – supposed to be non-drowsy.. but I feel light headed 🙁

CNY Kinect Housewarming party

On the 3rd day of CNY, we had a mini potluck party to celebrate the occasion! 😀 It was kinda like a small dream come true because it’s the 1st time BH and I held a party at our home! The feeling was great! I mean… we have like 6 PURE REAL Singaporeans in the same place at the same time! How cool is that! Then again, it would have been better if we had all our Singaporean friends over. hahaha.. oh well.. I was really tired preparing food but it was satisfying to see pple enjoying the food

It was super funny to see everyone dance on Dance Central and ‘compete’ in Kinect Sports! So tiring to laugh so much!!!

The Social Network

Yesterday was ‘chu xi’ in the US. BH and I had a simple steamboat dinner at home. We wanted to take pictures BUT can’t find the camera!!?? geez… the result of moving :X ok.. not complaining about the move coz moving = spring cleaning.. haha.. we managed to unclutter and sell some of the items we don’t need or would like to change to better ones.. 🙂

ok.. so we just moved and for the whole of last year… we did NOT subscribe to cable TV but use an indoor TV antenna instead. It worked very well in Seattle because we were within 5 miles from various TV stations. However, it doesn’t work in Redmond.. because… it’s quite a distance from Seattle. booo… I was super sad and disapted because the day I look forward to every week was WEDNESDAY! Wednesday is Comedy night on ABC – all my fave shows are lined up ( The middle – Better with you – Modern Family – Cougar Town) sobz.. i was super sad that I can’t even watch ABC 🙁 Not sure how is BH gonna solve the problem… maybe we’ll need to crawl back to Cable again?

Anyway, to mk me less disapted… BH stopped by Redbox on his way home and rented The Social Network DVD (luckily, it’s FREE rental as we have a discount code) … so we watched the movie after dinner.. movie was quite boring at the start. I can totally understand how geeks can be so incoherent. Geez… like when BH is doing his own programming ‘projects’ He’s totally in his own space!! I can tell him a whole chunk of stuff and he’ll look at me and say ‘can say again??!!!’ seriously??!!

After the movie, I literally walked away feeling angry !!! I feel so upset that Mark betrayed his best friend Eduardo who did nothing but helped & supported him. The feeling of being betrayed is not good… and it had happened to me 3X by my very best friends ( which includes BH!) Yes.. I forgive… but I still remember.. I watched the show and the hurt overwhelmed me so much that I went to bed sad. I know.. the whole show isn’t abt Eduardo, it’s about Mark… BUT I just can’t belief that he stepped on his friend to acquire success!

My entry  is really heavy for a new year festive post BUT You know what… you got a friend in me.. I will never do what you did to me.. really..

Anyhow, I don’t think u read my blog… so to all others…. Happy 1st day of lunar new year!

Unboxing Xbox+Kinect

I have this habit of taking pictures of us unboxing our goodies… so here goes….

BH had been looking high and low for a good deal on xbox + Kinect. After missing many deals on various websites and craigslist, we finally made a deal! 😀 BH was ultra happy and glad .. right after our pineapple tarts session, we drove abt 45 mins to meet the seller… phew… luckily, she didn’t play us out!

BH was like an excited boy unboxing his X’mas gift! oh well… I guess… the excitement is just like me falling in love with a new bag and buying it? haha

It’s 2011!

On the last day of 2010, I saw the most beautiful sunrise ever 🙂





The first few seconds of 2011, I saw pretty fireworks at the Space Needle





I always thought Seattle was beautiful BUT Seattle just got MORE beautiful as the years goes by… next mth, we’ll be moving to Redmond, so we probably won’t have this kinda view anymore… sigh… given a choice, we won’t have moved… BUT we really needed to save the extra bucks 🙁

I always believed in making resolutions every year and fulfilling them… then I guess.. resolutions don’t matter… it’s how I live my life.. I may be poor but at least… I’m happy… and I wanna continue to be happy!

In 2010, is a year of ups and downs… Behind my mostly happy blog entries, I shed many tears of regret, fear and sorrow. BH and I had been saving and working v hard to give me my freedom .. I think I did quite well in the saving money part last yr – I get freebies and participated in giveaways to the best of my abilities… I cook most of the time… BH gets lunchbox to work nearly everyday… we love travelling but cut down to save the $ ..Really hope that the sacrifices we make now will bear fruit in near future…

2011 just started and I could feel the stress financially 🙁 I really hope the financal part of our life will not affect our relationship… wish us luck! Saving money will be my ONLY goal for this year !

not many pple read my blog BUT those who does… I know u all will have a better year than me 🙂 Happy 2011 and best wishes to all!

Leavenworth in Winter

It was our 1st time to Leavenworth. Finally!! We found some Singaporean friends who are in Seattle and keen to go on this day trip together 🙂 The trip to Leavenworth was abt 2.5 hr long, it’s always nice to travel with more pple.. mks the trip more bearable.

Prior to the daytrip, BH and I were very worried abt the road conditions as the weather at the other side of WA isn’t ideal – It was cold, icy and snowy… roads were closed! However, the morning of our trip, weather seems to be better.. so we happily set off

After a long drive, we reached Leavenworth.
[Sidetrack: I first heard abt Leavenworth from Caryn – who told me that it was a german inspired town. Our first time here would have been with Caryn .. felt so bad and guilty upon seeing this place as Caryn would have loved it!]





Leavenworth at this time is a Winter Wonderland indeed! The place was snowing cats & dogs. I felt like I was trapped in a snowglobe and a naughty child was shaking the globe profusely – The snow was falling around us!! It was a great feeling to see snow BUT too much of it just mks things very inconvenient, wet and cold.

Nevertheless, we braved the cold and snow and walked ard downtown… soaking in the christmas cheer! oh yes… it was super crowded!

The trip back to Seattle was kinda rough in my opinion. We walked back to our car, to find it covered with snow – poor Blackie.. it must be shivering cold. We did not have a shovel BUT fortunately, we have strong travel mates who pushed Blackie out of the snow puddle and we started our journey home. It was a tortuous drive as it was still snowing… the roads were filled with snow and ice. I felt our car skid a few times and we were travelling at snail speed. It took us abt 3hrs to reach a decent place for dinner. I’m glad we made it back safely 🙂

A great trip with wonderful company! If only, there isn’t that much snow! I hope to visit Leavenworth on a more sunny day.. haha…hope to buy cherries and peaches the next time round!

Windows Phone X’mas Party

Last weekend, BH and I went to the Windows Phone X’mas Party! It was the FIRST time I attended such an event! it was kinda last minute and I wasn’t prepared.. boo.. I didn’t buy nice and new x’masy dresses *Sobz* anyhow, I don’t wanna be underdressed.. Fortunately, I found a dress = my uniform for wedding dinners.. haha.. it’s silver in colour, quite X’masy 😀 For BH, he wore the same blazer as 6eptember..brings back nice memories!

We arrived at the event and the company arranged for Valet parking for pple who drove! My jaw dropped. I didn’t expect it to be sooooooooooo big scale. Heng ah.. we dressed up.. imagine if we didn’t?? Think we will stick out like sore thumbs! :X

The party was super cool! Met BH’s collegues.. and the night was spent eating and drinking… and dancing… geez… it felt like a HIGH class club ( w/o the smoke and rawdy pple) – u get the pt

I dunno who to tell so I guess I’ll just blog here 😀

U know when I just arrived in US – BH was expecting me to get a iphone.. I didn’t.. I mean.. he even bought a iphone cover for me ( still sitting in a corner of our home, anyone wants?) BUT I bought the old Windows Phone 6.5

Today, while playing with my new Windows7 phone.. I was trying hard to recall y I didn’t get the iphone… then I rem…
1) I didn’t like the overall look.. it’s complicated and messy ( in my humble opinion)
2) You need to pay iphone tax! Crazy as it sounds.. but blah… a few $ a mth adds up!

So I was already v contented with my windows phone 6.5 then came Window7 phone. I was blown away!! I don’t care abt the other apps BUT I love the overall look.. it didn’t scare me off! The tiles were big, neat and simple! Having alot of apps/icons on the phone is like having a messy desktop on your computer , which I cannot stand. The sad thing abt Windows phone is there’s no nice covers for it yet .. boo… If only Kate Spade has nice Windows phone casing

The point is… My new Windows7 phone is like a 2nd computer to me!!! 😀 I just discovered that I access DBS ibanking u know!!! wow!!! lub it deep deep!!

To make sure I have more knowledge of my windows7 phones & iphones, I went to watch a few techic videos comparing iphones vs windows7 phone.. Yes.. I admit IE can be slow at times BUT it’s only slower by at most 5 secs? oh well, we can’t expect the best of everything right?? 🙂

Kinect weekend!

This weekend is probably one of the most fun weekend ever!

On Sat. , we went to BH’s collegue’s place for Kinect party!! 😀 hang out and played the Kinect games – Adventures!! So cool!! Love playing 20,000 leaks!! oh.. i was too shy to try out the dancing game on BH’s collegue’s Kinect though 🙁

On Sunday, we met up with Julius for dinner at Din Tai Feng. This is the FIRST + 1 and ONLY Din Tai Feng in Seattle. Oh yes.. the wait was horrible… it took us 3hrs to get a table!!! :O Food is nt as nice as the one in SG …

After the delicious treat from Julius, we went to his home for…. KINECT!!! o… and I got to tell you.. BH really can dance!! ok fine.. i think i m just bad with coordinating my arms and legs! anyway, BH is GREAT with the dancing games!! woohoo!! keke.. will try to record it down next time!!

Marina Bay Sands

It’s amazing how much Singapore had changed since we left 🙂

Together with YM, BH and I went to explore MBS – we were suppose to go for this Light Festival thingy .. HOwever, we just don’t see it? haha.. it was fun nevertheless!
