BH and I made our way to SJI on 16 JULY, we had been looking forward to this trip as it’s been so long that we went for a holiday/getaway.. Actually, I had been to SJI last yr with Caryn.. enjoyed it and decided to bring BH there this yr! I was seriously looking forward to this trip – booked whale-watch tour and accomodation abt 1 mth before.. even planned food to bring on this little roadtrip!
The day before, I instructed BH to collect Trophy cupcakes – he came home with 3 boxes.. wah! I was super excited tt he bought so many!!! BUT to only realised that he got 2 extra EMPTY boxes frm them… I was like ” ok…… ” 🙁
Anyhow, on the fateful friday – we woke up bright and early ” we are gonna have a whaling good time!” Drove abt 2 hrs to Anacortes Ferry Terminal and waited in line to board the ferry with our car.. its our 1st time driving up a ferry and I was super resistant to it .. coz I don’t like new things .. BH was like ” if u don’t try, u don’t know! ” so….. we waited in line.. enjoying the nice and peaceful view

Finally, got on the ferry with the car – wah.. super easy.. like paying for carpark fees at the counter then drive-in .. no need to squeeze with pple.. The cost of car+2 humans on the ferry US$66!!!! :O geeez….

The jouney to Friday Habour was scenic… the little islands we saw along the way reminds us of LOST .. haha… but I was tired… we woke up super early to catch the ferry ya see ( my idea as I figured out that we might get lost since it’s our 1st time driving – turns out that everything went on smoothly)

Finally, we reached Friday habour ( on a friday! how apt!) then we ‘chiong’ to look for a FREE parking slot which allows us to park for 8hrs straight! And we explored the town. Popeye the habour seal is still ard! haha.. he just got fatter! This time, we didn’t need to feed him with fish – she ( it’s a female!) was popping out of the water when we reached there.. heh

Visited a spices shop ( which i think is new – didn’t see it last yr) , alot of interesting spices as you can see in the above pic.. I also met Paul the octopus in a souvenir shop and asked him if we wold see whales – he said yes BUT looks like he’s not accurate this time round 🙁 Btw, I love the sharky hat! so cute!
We joined San Juan Excursions for whale-watch as we manged to buy the tix cheap from Groupon

So…. there isn’t any whales… super disapted… I mean.. I had more fun with Caryn… well, this goes to say that some experiences are better shared with a special friend than with your hubby? haha.. I will always rem that I saw whales in its natural habitat for the first time with Caryn for life!!
The good news is – They issued us a ‘Rain check’ immediately ( on the boat) after they announced that we can’t see whales! I’m impressed! This means we cld go back to them anytime for another FREE whale-watch trip!!! 😀 So, it’s kinda like Buy 1 get 1 free?

After the ‘whale-less’ trip, we had dinner and checked into our B&B Trumpeter Inn You need a car/take a cab to reach this inn from Friday Habour – Like I mentioned, I don’t like to try new things, I rather stick with something I know BUT BH was like ‘ Try new things… ‘ so we booked here.. and drove to this ulu countryside place

Stayed at Yarrow room which was the cheapest and quite small… the first sounds we hear when we entered the room was ‘moooooooooooooooooo ‘ > cows!!! haha.. I was like ” that’s it! we are gonna sleep to this melodious music! ” Somehow, the cows stopped mooing after 8pm? haha… i think the farmer muted them or they fell asleep? hahaha
Location of the inn was quiet… we simply love the owner’s dogs.. they are so adorable.. we didn’t mind the Narrow Yarrow room as we were only staying for 1 night. Breakfast was ok… I still like breakfast at Kirk’s House – nobody can beat their Granola 🙂
After checking out, we went to Lime Kiln Park ( Whale-watch park) – Once again, Caryn and I saw whales here last yr!!! This yr… there’s no whales 🙁

Left the place disapted again and went to Pelindaba Lavender Farm It was the week of Lavender Festival and the lavender was at full bloom! Very pretty! 🙂

Harvested our own lavender which wasn’t very fun.. haha.. it’s quite tedious actually. Given a choice, I would choose to pick strawberries instead!
We drove ard the island… had ice-cream at Roche Habour and made our way to the Ferry terminal, just in time for the 1.30pm ferry back to Anacortes – then back to our usual ‘chores’ – groceries shopping
I felt that this trip was kinda wasted… coz we didn’t see whales and paid for the ferry, B&B 🙁 BH thought otherwise.. oh well, it’s nice that BH is always more generous with $ compared to me
Last pic to end the post

Looking forward to the next SJI trip – hope to see whales the next time round!!
