I told BH to make reservations like 1 week before BUT the place we wanted to go had been fully booked!!! Boooo&#8230;. it&#8217;s been 2 or is it 3 years in a row that we didn&#8217;t managed to eat out on Vday because we can&#8217;t mk reservations :\/<\/p>\n<p>Fret not, I decided to try out another Japanese dish \ud83d\ude42 and BH volunteered to get desserts! yum!<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/199.96.156.76\/~binghuan\/seattletimes_6eptember\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/02\/katsu-don-3.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/199.96.156.76\/~binghuan\/seattletimes_6eptember\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/02\/katsu-don-3.jpg\" alt=\"\" title=\"katsu don (3)\" width=\"473\" height=\"375\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-3008\" srcset=\"https:\/\/seattletimes.6eptember.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/02\/katsu-don-3.jpg 473w, https:\/\/seattletimes.6eptember.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/02\/katsu-don-3-300x237.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 473px) 100vw, 473px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/199.96.156.76\/~binghuan\/seattletimes_6eptember\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/02\/katsu-don-4.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/199.96.156.76\/~binghuan\/seattletimes_6eptember\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/02\/katsu-don-4.jpg\" alt=\"\" title=\"katsu don (4)\" width=\"498\" height=\"347\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-3012\" srcset=\"https:\/\/seattletimes.6eptember.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/02\/katsu-don-4.jpg 498w, https:\/\/seattletimes.6eptember.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/02\/katsu-don-4-300x209.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 498px) 100vw, 498px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Chicken Katsu Don Recipe<br \/>\n(from <a href=\"http:\/\/justonecookbook.com\/blog\/recipes\/chicken-katsu-don\/\" target=\"_blank\">Justonecookbook<\/a>)<\/p>\n<p>Ingredients:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/199.96.156.76\/~binghuan\/seattletimes_6eptember\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/02\/WP_000280.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/199.96.156.76\/~binghuan\/seattletimes_6eptember\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/02\/WP_000280.jpg\" alt=\"\" title=\"WP_000280\" width=\"420\" height=\"320\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-3009\" srcset=\"https:\/\/seattletimes.6eptember.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/02\/WP_000280.jpg 420w, https:\/\/seattletimes.6eptember.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/02\/WP_000280-300x228.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 420px) 100vw, 420px\" \/><\/a><br \/>\n(Ignore the kamaboko &#8211; Initially, I wanted to use it as a decoration on the dish but decided not to in the end)<\/p>\n<p>200g (7oz or 4) chicken tenders [ I used 2 chicken breast &#8211; sliced into 1\/2 sideways to mk it thinner for easy cooking]<br \/>\nSalt<br \/>\nFreshly ground black pepper<br \/>\n1\/4 cup all purpose flour<br \/>\n1 egg<br \/>\n1 cup Panko<br \/>\nOil for deep frying<\/p>\n<p>1\/2 onion<br \/>\n2 eggs<br \/>\n2 serving rice<br \/>\nMitsuba (Japanese wild parsley)[I used normal parsley]<br \/>\nIchimi togarashi (Japanese chili powder) [I omit]<\/p>\n<p>Seasonings<br \/>\n2\/3 cup dashi stock<br \/>\n1 \u00bd Tbsp. sake<br \/>\n1 \u00bd Tbsp. mirin<br \/>\n1 \u00bd Tbsp. soy sauce<br \/>\n1 \u00bd tsp. sugar<\/p>\n<p>Instructions:<\/p>\n<p>Dust salt and pepper on chicken tenders and dredge flour, eggs and panko.<\/p>\n<p>Heat \u00bd inch of oil in a frying pan and deep fry at 350F (180C) until golden brown. Take out the chicken and drain extra oil on paper towel.<\/p>\n<p>Slice onion and make dashi stock.<\/p>\n<p>In a frying pan, bring Seasonings and onion to a boil. Lower the heat to medium and cook onion until wilted.<\/p>\n<p>Put chicken katsu in it and turn the heat up to medium high heat. Pour and distribute egg evenly.<\/p>\n<p>When egg is half cooked, add mitsuba and turn off the heat. Serve rice in a Donburi bowl and put Chicken and egg mixture on top. I choose one leh!&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>haha&#8230; I was happy again&#8230;but wondered y aren&#8217;t the roses RED? geez.. who on earth will give their Valentine GREEN flowers??!!! erm&#8230; according to BH, GREEN roses were the only ones left.. so I was like &#8221; what does green rose mean? is it for break ups??&#8221; we googled it &#8220;The most significant and popular meaning of the green rose is fertility. The green color symbolizes richness, abundance and bounty. Green roses are a sign of plenty and copiousness.&#8221; (quote <a href=\"http:\/\/www.flowermeaning.info\/Green.php\" target=\"_blank\">Flowermeaning<\/a>) Erm&#8230; ok&#8230; I hope this means I&#8217;ll have plenty of money and Chanel bags.. wahaha<\/p>\n<p>As I admired the flowers&#8230; Bh took a look at his receipt and realised that&#8230;. the cashier didn&#8217;t even charge him for the roses which cost $19.99!! hahaha&#8230; lucky BH ( and me) , we got free roses on Vday! \ud83d\ude00 HAPPY Valentine&#8217;s Day indeed!<\/p>\n<p>Everyday is Valentine&#8217;s Day&#8230; just that 14 Feb is MORE Valentine&#8217;s Day than others!
